Contract of Carriage

A contract of carriage is an agreement between the shipper and the carrier that sets the terms of moving the goods, the responsibilities, the freight and the limits of compensation. In sea freight, the bill of lading is the main evidence of this contract, and the terms on its reverse side form part of the parties' obligations.
